Automobile manufacturers, from Lamborghini to Rolls-Royce, keep producing luxury cars with limited editions. A new model comes up every few months with a higher price tag than the previous model. Even though only a very small percentage of the people in the world can afford them, every car lover is eager to know what’s latest in the luxury car world. So this article lists 5 of the most expensive cars in 2022.

Rolls Royce Boat Tail

Renowned for their super luxurious vehicles, Rolls Royce remains one of the most expensive car brands in the world. Their latest production model, Rolls Royce Boat Tail, is a prime example of this fact. This exquisite car is valued at $28 million and ranks high on the list of most expensive cars in the world.

A twin-turbo V12 engine with 563 hp powers the Boat tail. Also, the car comes with a high-end finish with a two-tone exterior. What’s unique about this vehicle is the availability of a hosting suit in the rear of it. With a press of a button, a champagne fridge with an umbrella pops out to provide luxury on the go.

This hand-built masterpiece guaranteed a once-in-a-lifetime experience and made its public debut in 2021. A total of 3 Boat Tails got sold, and the list of buyers are not available to the public. So, we don’t know yet who owns this car that came out recently.

Bugatti La Voiture Noire

Dethroned by the Boat tail as the most expensive car in the world, this Bugatti is something to behold. The name of the vehicle La Voiture Noire, which translates to “black car” is what Bugatti used to gain attention.

The supercar carries a quad-turbo W16 engine with 1500hp. Thus, La Voiture can reach 0 to 60 miles in a whopping 2.4 seconds. With all of these in an aerodynamic body, La Voiture is capable of driving at a top speed of 260 mph.

The vehicle has a price tag of $19 million and is one of the most expensive cars in the world. Also, there was only one sale of these supercars. Its owner was none other than the legendary Portuguese footballer Christiano Ronaldo.

Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta

The Italian Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta is another one of the most expensive cars in the world. With a listed price of $17 million, this supercar comes with many features to match the price. Another reason for a price that high is the exclusivity, with just three models available.

Powered by a naturally-aspirated AMG-sourced V12 engine with a six-speed gearbox, the car weighs only 1250kgs. The powerful engine is capable of 700bhp, and the light nature of the vehicle enables it to reach a top speed of 220mph.

Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta does not have a roof. Moreover, its body is similar to the shape of an arrow to maximize aerodynamics.

Rolls Royce Sweptail

It’s not a surprise to see a second entry of Rolls Royce in this top-five most expensive cars list. Notoriously, the Rolls Royce company is one the if not the most expensive car brands in the world. The Sweptail is a luxury with a reported price of $13 million.

The company stated that the Sweptail is a vehicle made under a request from a specific customer in need of a one-of-a-kind car. Based on the current generation phantom platform, the car is home to a V12 engine capable of 453hp.

As with any other Rolls Royce, the design of the vehicle is simply breathtaking and has a unique “swept-tail” on the rear, hence the car’s name. Instead of back seats, the car features a wood mid-shelf, a wood hat shelf, and luggage rails on the rear.

1963 Ferrari 250 GTO

Though it is not a car that was built in recent years, we simply can’t ignore the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO. This masterpiece of a car was also a top-notch performer back then, with wins at Le Mans, Tour de France, Zolder, and Reims. The vehicle was produced from 1962 to 1964, and only 36 of these cars ever saw daylight. What’s amazing is while other cars made during that time are in museums, the 250 GTOs still run like a dream.

The supercar features a V12 engine capable of an output of 296hp, which was a big deal back then. With its sleek aerodynamic design, low weight, and one of the first implementations of 5 gear transmission, this car was truly ahead of its time.

The Ferrari 250 GTO has many titles that come with it. The holy grail of collectable cars, the trophy of all cars, the most expensive car ever sold, and the most expensive Ferrari are some of them. What makes the 250 GTO the most expensive car of all time is the deal made in 2018 that sold the car for $70 million. As for the question of who owns this amazing car, it is the founder of the automotive accessory manufacturer WeatherTech David MacNeil.
